Sanctuary as a Mindset
June 19 & 28, 2026 • 9:30am
Wolf Haven International • Tenino, WA
"Sanctuary as a Mindset: a contemplative experience at Wolf Haven International" is an opportunity for guests to enjoy a quiet, peaceful visit that reflects our sanctuary philosophy. Participants can explore different avenues for respectfully and creatively embracing the presence of sanctuary wolves in a non-invasive and non-threatening way (quiet contemplation and appreciation, drawing, writing, etc). The time in the sanctuary will mostly be in silence.
Wolf Haven "In the Wild"
events and locations where you can find Wolf Haven International booths or presentations
Seattle Art Museum
Join us at Seattle Art Museum's A Room for Animal Intelligence Member Family Day! This gallery exhibit is a whole new way of seeing the animal world curated by Pam McClusky. Come face-to-face with 100 animals from around the globe, rendered at jaw- dropping scale. We’re talking the largest wolf, mouse, and mosquito you’ve ever laid eyes on. Grab a bite from the pop‑up café, listen to live jazz, and visit the Wolf Haven booth!
Tenino City Park
Join hundreds of volunteers as we restore our parks & trails in Thurston County during the 2026 Earth Day Celebration! A great collection of local conservation and environmental organizations will be present to provide activities and information, too. To participate in cleanup, visit friendsoftenino.org, or just stop by the park to check out Wolf Haven's booth and show your support for the local community!
North Cascades Institute
Our partners at North Cascades Institute are hosting a virtual program to discuss wolf recovery in Washington state with WDFW biologists, who will provide updates on current wolf packs and respond to participant questions. Members of the Washington Wolf Advisory Council (WAG) will also be present to share how the council works to promote equitable, inclusive, & respectful dialogue among diverse communities.
Shorebird Festival
Each spring, hundreds of thousands of shorebirds stop to rest and feed along the Washington Coast and in the Grays Harbor estuary during their migration northward. The annual Shorebird Festival works to bring people together for this incredible natural phenomenon through workshops, guided walks, vendors, exhibits, and more! This is one of Wolf Haven's favorite events to attend each year.
Prairie Appreciation Day
This year marks the 31st annual Prairie Appreciation Day at Glacial Heritage Preserve! Hosted by the Friends of Puget Prairies, this incredible event features educational booths, food trucks, self-guided walking trails, children's games, hayrides through the prairie, a birding walk, and more. Prairie Appreciation Day is free & open the public - we will not be hosting our own Prairie Celebration this year, so don't miss your chance to get out on a prairie this spring!
