Mesa was rescued from private ownership to be a companion for Sierra, who lost her previous partner to chronic illness. He was born into the wolfdog pet trade in Colorado and was abandoned due to his wild behavior. It usually takes a new pair time to connect, but we saw Mesa and Sierra playing together on trail camera footage within the first week and they have not stopped since!
